To create the warm contemporary atmosphere of Vinology we worked with local designers to maintain the historical attributes of the space while relating the decor to wine education. To evoke the elements of the winemaking process we used materials of stainless steel, cork, and glass. Our preservation efforts lead us to restore the tin ceilings and exposed brick walls and create four separate spaces for our guests to enjoy. Vinology has a room for every mood.

The Wine Bar

This sleek room is the heart of our space. Wine bottles seem to be suspended in air behind the bar where tall stainless steel ladders roll along tracks for bartenders to fetch wine. We use a specialized wine-saver tap system for some of our wines by the glass and offer a full spectrum of spirits and beer. Once you sit down, it is hard to get up.

Main Street Dining

Lounge in spacious high top booths with a custom-designed box mounted over each table. Each box is filled with a unique wine-related element and a description of how it affects the wine in your glass. Learn while you eat and drink! The stairwell to our cellar is decorated with a hand-carved vine sculpture created by the Detroit Design Group. Phillip Cooley and his team also created two large light boxes representing the life of a vine above and below the soil that are mounted above and below the stairwell. This is a place to see and be seen.

The Bubble Room

This intimate dining space earned its name after we commissioned our friends at Furnace Hot Glass in Dearborn to create and hang 400 hand-blown glass balls from the ceiling. To complement this luxurious installation and the exposed stone and brick, walls we added soft lighting, a mahogany bar, and sheer curtains for a feeling of subtle and elegant privacy. A sculpture on the back wall describes the various champagne production processes and soil boxes once again hang above each table. The room is perfect for special events up to 60 guests. Join us for a Tuesday Night Tasting here each week and for wine and food classes throughout the winter.

The Cellar Room and Retail Shop

This is by far our most sought after dining space. It seats only twelve, but most people who see it want to create an event just to use it! Oversize wood bins filled with wine line the walls of this glassed-in space. It is perfect for an intimate dinner or business meeting. Guests can also peruse this space to help decide which retail wines they would like to take home.
